The Madison Church of Christ aspires to live in “the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace” ( Ephesians 4:3).

Jesus calls His followers to live in unity with one another ( John 17). Paul commands there be no divisions based upon race or other social categories ( Galatians 3:28, Colossians 3:11).

To help facilitate racial unity and understanding, three African American Madison couples were interviewed discussing their experiences with being a minority race in our society. All are strong Christians whose faith has helped them handle the positives and negatives of life. These interviews are informative, inspirational and help increase our understanding of racial issues.

Our deepest thanks to Milton and Brenda Jones, Steve and April Smith, and Lamont and Cherlinda Bassham for their stories and to Larry Souder for his filming expertise.

This interview series is part of the Madison church’s ongoing efforts to be the integrated body of followers of Jesus that God desires.
