What is MOPS?
Here at MOPS, we gather and support moms. We believe in the simple but revolutionary idea that remarkable things happen when moms come together, face to face. That’s why we rally women to come together in their own neighborhoods and help each other through this thing called motherhood, one gathering at a time.
Our acronym stands for “Mothers of Preschoolers” because we began in 1973 when a group of moms of young children banded together to share their lives and parenting journeys. Over the past forty-five years, MOPS has expanded our reach to include moms with older kids, partnering with churches and organizations worldwide to equip and encourage moms in more than 60 countries.
Madison Church of Christ began our own MOPS chapter in Fall 2019! Our meetings include food (that you didn’t have to make), fun, fellowship, and learning how to be the best Mama possible for our kids. Meanwhile, our children are just down the hall in MOPS Kids, having lots of fun, and learning about Jesus at the same time!
How much does it cost?
Each mom and mentor mom needs to sign up for MOPS International, which is $31.95 for this 2020-21 year. This pays for all the resources and curriculum our chapter receives from MOPS, as well as access to lots of free online resources and communities. And when you register, you’ll get the seasonal MOPS magazine in your mailbox!
Our local chapter dues are not due until we begin meeting in September, and they will be $30 per mama for each semester of the 2020-21 year. This goes to cover the cost of our meeting supplies, special speakers, craft & cleaning supplies, and to help with the cost of childcare. Some generous donations help us keep this cost as low as possible for our moms!
